The white mosquito larvae are frozen alive to preserve their shape and prevent nutrient loss into the aquarium water. Their transparent and soft bodies make them easy for fish to digest, even for juveniles and fish with smaller mouths.

Stimulates natural hunting behaviour, as they resemble the natural prey of many fish species.
